1) What information do we collect?
Toronto Crime Stoppers collects whatever information you send to us via our website, our Mobile App, or through our 416-222-8477 phone number. It is highly recommended that you do not leave any information that may disclose your identity or leave information that may lead to you identity. All information submitted is stored indefinitely. Other than law enforcement, we do not share your information with any other third party.
2) Your submitted information and identity protected by the Supreme Court Of Canada.
Ideally, the information you submit to us will lead to prosecution or arrest of guilty individuals. This information may be used within any judicial system to facilitate prosecution. You as the author of this information will never be called to testify, nor will your identity be exposed as the originating author. 3) Do we use cookies?
Yes (Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the sites or service providers systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information .
We use cookies to understand and save your preferences for future visits. We do not use cookies to identify who you are.
4) How do we communicate with Tipsters if they are anonymous?
When you contact Toronto Crime Stoppers via any of our channels, your identity is never requested. Even if you call us from an identifiable phone line, we will not document it. When you send information to us, we will provide a “Unique” identification code back to you. Any future correspondence between you and Toronto Crime Stoppers will be done with this code so you never have to disclose who you are.
5) How do I know if I am entitled to a reward?
Since we will not be requesting any contact information from you, it is incumbent on you to check in with us regularly with the above mentioned “Unique Code” to see the status of your Tip submission. Please provide at least 3-4 weeks from initial tip submittal for any status update.
6) How do I collect a reward?
If information you send to us leads to an arrest, you tip will be entitled to a financial reward. If you use the Toronto Crime Stoppers Mobile App, you will be notified within the “Tip Status” area. If you contact us and we inform you that your tip is entitled to a reward, we will provide you a “Redemption Code” and instructions on how to collect the reward at a local financial institution.
7) Do we disclose any information to outside parties?
Toronto Crime Stoppers only provides user submitted tips to local law enforcement. Toronto Crime Stoppers reserves the right to supply user usage data and patterns of usage and general crime information to any third party that it does business with. At no point will TCS provide any information you submitted to us, in detailed format, to any third party outside of Law Enforcement.
8) Third party links
Occasionally, at our discretion, we may include or offer third party products or services on our website or Mobile App. These third party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of these third party links before proceeding. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback about these sites.
9) Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance
We are in compliance with the requirements of COPPA (Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act), we do not collect any information from anyone under 13 years of age. Our website, products and services are all directed to people who are at least 13 years old or older.
