Chris Campbell is the Equity and Diversity Representative of the Carpenters’ District Council of Ontario (CDCO). The CDCO collectively bargains on behalf of its 30,000 members across Ontario, with 20,000 of them in the Greater Toronto Area. Chris sits on several boards and committees in the construction industry as well as in the local community. These include the Carpenters’ Union Benefits and Pension Plan Board of Trustees, the Carpenters' Union local 27 Executive board, the Toronto Community Benefits Network, the Coalition of Black Trade Unionist Canada, the Toronto Crime Stoppers Board and The Toronto Police Black Community Consultative Committee. He also plays a major role in the recruiting of youths from his community for careers in the construction trade. He supports the advocacy work of the Black Action Defense Committee (BADC), which has had a tremendous impact on his life while he lived at Vaughan Road in Toronto in the late '80s. He views BADC as a game changer that influences the government to make positive adjustments to its policies and laws that affect the way minority youth are treated by the system.
